This is a cool old lighthouse at the northeast end of the giant row of hotels that is Cancun. It is only accessible by staying at the Dreams Riviera Resort – or by sneaking in ;). Here are the lat/long coordinates if you want to put it into google maps: 21.137485, -86.741162
After taking this photo, I cropped it significantly in order to fix some composition issues. This is definitely an example of something I like to do when I shoot an image: I should it with extra space around the photo. If I had shot this tight without any extra room, I would have limited the options I had afterward. This photo is also an excellent example of the rule of thirds. You’ll notice that the horizon line is about 1/3 the way up the photo, the lighthouse is about 1/3 from the right of the photo, and the top of the lighthouse is 1/3 from the top of the image. I have been accused of overusing this rule from time to time. 😉
