Cheap Flight Twitter Bot in Python

I love to travel.  And something that makes that a lot easier is cheap flights.  There are many websites and even twitter accounts that exist only to point out cheap flights.  For about a year I’ve followed several twitter accounts for fare deals and have alerts turned on so that I don’t miss something good.  Currently, I get about 50 alerts a day that light up my phone and distract me from whatever I’m doing… but only one or two of those are actually from my home airport of DEN.  So I created a python script to help me out.

Photo Friday – Twisted Tree

This is another photo from our most recent trip to Cambodia.  This one is from the temple Ta Prohm taken on our second day exploring.  As you can see it’s gorgeous but that meant it took forever for us to get a clear shot of the door without other people in it.  But overall, it was well worth the wait and I’d recommend it to everyone.

Photo Friday – Cambodian Monk

This picture of a monk was taken on our recent trip to Cambodia.  This monk sat on the steps in Angkor Wat and watched as the tourists explored and climbed around on the temple.  I approached him and asked if I could take his picture but he didn’t seem to understand me.  I gestured to my camera and then to him and he smiled and nodded yes and went back to watching the tourists.  In a location of extreme chaos he was a beacon of calm that really stuck with me.

DIY Toiletry Bag Organizer Insert

I’m a little particular about the products I use, especially those I travel with, and I’m always searching for the perfect stuff.  I thought I had found the perfect toiletry bag last year but I became frustrated that my stuff got tossed around during every trip.  So during a particularly boring day at the lab, I made an insert to keep things organized and save my sanity.

Photo Friday – Costa Rica Sunset

This has been a pretty stressful week and as I was flipping through my photos this one caught my eye and took me back to some great memories in Costa Rica last year.  This photo is from the pool of the JW Marriott outside of Tamarindo on the country’s west coast.  While it may not be the most authentic experience, it was extremely relaxing.

Photo Friday -Toulouse Church

This is from the Church of the Jacobins from Toulouse, France.  In particular, it’s a view of a column in the sanctuary of the church.  At the top of the column, it radiates out in a palm tree design to support the roof.  The photo doesn’t really show the height of the ceiling and how light and airy it makes the room feel along with the huge stained glass panels.  This is definitely a must see in Toulouse.

Photo Friday – St. Emilion Church

This photo is from St. Emilion, a famous wine growing region just outside of Bordeaux in France.  I loved the way the sun was shining through the tree and the great texture in the church tower and the sky.  This shot has so much dynamic range that the camera couldn’t capture it all so the highlights are blown out and the tower was deep in shadow.  I fixed it as much as possible but the sky still wasn’t working for me – black and white to the rescue!

Photo Friday – Marseille Boats

This was taken on a recent trip to France.  After presenting at a conference in Toulouse, I went to Marseille for a few days to explore.  While it wasn’t my favorite city, I did get a few great pictures and got to see the Chateau d’If.  The light was hard because it was the middle of the day so I converted to black and white to try to give it some drama.
